The Senior Training Officer, Community Corrections helps shape the capability of Queensland’s frontline community supervision workforce. You’ll identify development needs, deliver engaging and contemporary training, and ensure assessment and learning practices meet high standards, including RTO requirements where applicable. Working collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and external providers, you’ll support the delivery of role‑specific programs that strengthen practice, build confidence and enhance outcomes for Community Corrections staff. Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) plays a vital role in community safety by supervising individuals in the community and supporting their rehabilitation. The Senior Training Officer, Community Corrections contributes directly to this purpose by helping build a capable, confident and well‑supported Community Corrections workforce. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, enjoys facilitating learning, and is passionate about strengthening frontline practice through high‑quality training and development.

In this role, you will help shape contemporary training that reflects the realities of Community Corrections work. You'll identify capability needs through training needs analysis and skill audits, ensuring development opportunities are targeted, relevant and aligned with operational expectations. You will prepare and deliver engaging training sessions—both accredited and non‑accredited—ensuring RTO standards are met where required and that learning environments, resources and assessment processes support successful outcomes.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Academy and Community Corrections to ensure programs remain current, practical and responsive to emerging needs. This includes reviewing training and assessment procedures, validating tools, and using evaluation data to inform continuous improvement. You'll also collaborate with internal stakeholders and external training providers to ensure staff have access to contemporary, role‑specific development that supports safe and effective practice.

Assessment quality is a key part of the role. You will gather and evaluate evidence to determine competency, maintain accurate assessment records, and support recognition of current competencies and prior learning. You will also contribute to annual assessment validation processes to ensure consistency, fairness and compliance with RTO requirements.

This is a role for someone who enjoys facilitating learning, thinking on their feet and engaging diverse groups of adult learners. You'll bring strong communication skills, a practical understanding of Community Corrections operations, and the ability to translate complex concepts into meaningful, applied learning experiences. Your analytical and problem‑solving skills will help you identify gaps, refine content and support continuous improvement across the curriculum.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

• Experience and detailed understanding of Community Corrections operations.
• Experience designing, delivering and reviewing vocational training relevant to Community Corrections.
• Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage diverse adult learners.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and contemporary training practices.
• Well‑developed analytical, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Effective time and resource management capability.

Other Requirements:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
• Travel, work outside normal hours and delivery from alternate locations may be required.
