We're helping deliver the transport network for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games—shaping a safe, efficient and connected future for Queensland.

The Games Operational Planning team is responsible for coordinating, planning and delivering the Games Route Network (GRN) across all Queensland host regions. The GRN will provide reliable travel times for athletes, officials, the Games family and media, while also keeping the city moving.

This involves managing complex interdependencies, including background traffic, on-road events, venues and live sites, as well as spectator and workforce transport — maximising both operational performance and lasting legacy outcomes.

About the role:
*This opportunity is temporary full-time until 30 June 2029*
The purpose of the Principal Program Advisor is to develop and implement Games Route Plans and coordinated transport operations to support the Games.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead development of Games Route Plans across the state to facilitate Games operations, ensuring that all planning is undertaken in a multi-modal, integrated and value for money context.
• Identify Games-time road network operations needs and priorities, including precursor activities, to balance unique Games transport requirements with business-asusual travel needs.
• Apply project management expertise through the effective engagement and management of key stakeholders, contractors, and monitoring budget, scope and project milestones.
• Provide expert, strategic advice to the Manager and senior officers in relation to project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Provide effective planning outcomes to ensure that operational requirements are clearly defined.
• Prepare complex ministerial correspondence, project reports, presentations, briefing notes, submissions and other general correspondence.

About you:
We're looking for a capable and motivated professional who can bring strong analytical skills, sound judgement and a collaborative approach. We value diverse perspectives and will consider your experience, skills, potential and personal qualities.

Desirable:
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in transport planning, traffic engineering, transport network operations or strategic policy.
• Experience in planning for major events and developing traffic management plans.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Experience in network planning, including an understanding of operational constraints.
• Ability to recognise links between operational problems and customer needs.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse options, build a case for change and communicate outcomes effectively.
• Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences.
