Victim Response Officer
Frontline Victim Support Services Unit; Victim Assist Queensland; Victim Support; South Brisbane
The Victims of Crime Community Response (VOCCR) model draws on existing resources and services already available in a region, providing initial triage and a central point of contact for victims and first responders, ensuring victims of crime can identify and access appropriate services, emotional and practical support, including using brokerage and financial related assistance. The VOCCR program responds to individual referrals in Logan, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
As the Victim Response Officer, you are responsible for the provision of immediate support to meet the urgent needs of victims and their families in the days following a violent crime.

Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Manage referrals for eligible victims of crime and their immediate family and provide immediate and trauma-informed support in the form of triage, brokerage and referrals to appropriate specialist support services.
- Undertake referrals to appropriate support services for long term support for recovery.
- Facilitate priority assistance for victims of crime, including accurate record-keeping and undertaking delegated tasks where required.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with external stakeholders including the Government departments and non - government organisations who provide services to victims of crime.
- Respond empathetically and effectively to victims of crime, including promoting the rights and needs of victims of crime and facilitating access to the services available to them.
- Identifies and implements ways to continually improve services, though sharing and seeking creative ideas, suggestions, and data to inform the effective delivery of services.
- Participate in stakeholder networks and meetings to deliver an effective program and promote the work of Victim Assist more broadly.
- Collect data and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the Victim of Crime Community Response program.
