Your opportunity

The Program Leader, Data Insights will lead a team of data and spatial professionals in the development and implementation of a strategic data insights and spatial program to support the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s (ECQ) operational and strategic objectives. This role will oversee the delivery of high-quality, impactful data analytics, reporting and spatial services, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements while driving innovation and continuous improvement. The Program Leader will provide strategic leadership, foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders, and ensure the effective governance and management of ECQ’s data assets. This role will play a critical part in enhancing electoral transparency, public trust, and community engagement in Queensland.

Your Contribution

As the Program Leader, Data Insights and Spatial, you will:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a long-term data strategy that aligns with ECQ's vision of electoral excellence and supports organisational and community outcomes. Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the data insights and spatial program, ensuring alignment with ECQ's strategic priorities and government objectives.

Program Management:

Oversee multiple teams and projects within the data insights and spatial program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and impactful outcomes. Manage resources effectively to meet organisational priorities and ensure the sustainability of the data insights and spatial program. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging the adoption of new data analytics methodologies, technologies, and practices.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in data collection, analysis, and reporting processes to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, academic institutions, and private sector organisations.

Actively engage stakeholders to ensure the data insights program meets their needs and contributes to broader organisational and community goals.

Decision-Making and Risk Management:

Provide expert advice and make strategic decisions on data governance, analytics priorities, and resource allocation.

Identify and manage risks related to data management and analytics, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

Governance and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and policy frameworks related to data management, privacy, and security.

Promote integrity and transparency in the management and use of ECQ's data assets.

Leadership and Capability Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data and spatial professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

Act as a role model for the team by actively seeking feedback, demonstrating self-awareness, and pursuing continuous professional development.

Operational Excellence:

Oversee the production of data reports, visualisations, insights and spatial deliverables for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the effective use of ECQ's election data.

Ensure the delivery of data insights that support evidence-based decision-making and drive business improvement across the organisation.
