The objective of Safer Roads team is to eliminate Fatal and Serious Injury crashes on the Queensland road network. Safer Roads team, within the Engineering and Technology, branch provides specialised advice on road safety to internal and external stakeholders, supports the development and delivery of the Targeted RoadSafety Program, contributes to research and trials and maintains technical guidelines and policies.
This role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise and strong leadership skills to guide the team, drive innovation, and ensure alignment with business direction.

In the role of the Principal Engineer your responsibilities will include:
• Provide road safety subject matter expert advice in support the delivery of the district and council's Targeted Road Safety Program.
• Manage regular workshops and stakeholder engagement activities, which will include the analysis of road safety data.
• Provide road safety subject matter expert advice in support of the delivery of the district's OnQ and PAF projects.
• Deliver Safer Roads projects, including procurement and scope, resource, financial, quality, risk and stakeholder management.
• Develop and update road safety policies, guidelines, specifications and tools, including research and big data analysis.
• Prepare and review departmental briefs and public correspondence.
• Assist in the development and delivery of training to internal and external parties.
• Represent the Department on national and state road safety working groups.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships.
