Targeted Vacancy
This is designated as an Indigenous Identified role based on the genuine occupational requirements, in accordance with section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, and the Recruitment and Selection (Directive 07/23).
As Indigenous Service Support Officer, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning and interventions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.
- Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans through designing and implementing intervention strategies, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government and non-government agencies).
- Consult and effectively work with relevant stakeholders including families, elders, other key community members, community agencies and government departments to enhance the capacity of these stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families subject to youth justice interventions and their families.
- Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports and performance reporting.
- Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.
