Who we are:
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is a Queensland Government agency that unlocks land and accelerates housing, planning and infrastructure delivery—creating liveable places and enabling economic growth. Our work helps deliver safe, secure and affordable homes and supports thriving communities across the state.
Empowered by the Economic Development Act 2012, EDQ has unique planning and approval powers to help unlock complex projects and bring development-ready land to market. Our purpose is simple: help Queenslanders find a place to call home, create more jobs closer to home, and support liveable communities that reflect Queensland's way of life.
We work across government and with industry to attract investment, enable jobs and deliver projects that make a measurable difference for Queenslanders.
About the Role:
As Senior Development Manager, you'll lead a portfolio of property development projects from acquisition through to delivery, including site investigations, commercial negotiations and contracting.
You'll set the strategy for your team and work directly with private developers and government stakeholders to bring land to market for Queensland's housing pipeline.
- Lead site acquisitions, due diligence and project formulation across a portfolio ranging from $20 million to $200 million
- Structure commercial negotiations and manage end to end contracting and transaction processes
- Oversee delivery of enabling infrastructure and bring land to a market ready standard
- Manage strategic relationships with government, industry and community stakeholders
- Lead and build capability in a team of property professionals
- Provide strategic advice to EDQ's Executive Leadership Team and Board
- Travel across Queensland as needed, generally around once a month
About You:
You're an experienced property professional with a strong track record in land acquisition, development and delivery, and you know how to bring commercial rigour to complex projects.
You build genuine relationships with developers and stakeholders, and you're just as comfortable in the field as you are at the negotiating table.
- 7 + years' experience in property development, land subdivision, built form or master developer roles
- Bachelor's degree in Property, Engineering or Construction Management or other related fields
- Experience in acquisitions and/or selling land, and bringing land into a development pipeline
- Strong team management and ability to further build the team's capability and skills
- A natural relationship builder who engages proactively with internal and external stakeholders
- Commercial mindset with the ability to manage complex negotiations and transactions
- Holds a current driver's license
