We are seeking a highly organised and experienced professional to provide strategic and operational support to the Wildlife & Threatened Species Operations branch of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships (QPWS&P).

In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for delivering high-level business and administrative support services across a broad range of functions, including budget and financial management, procurement, workforce management, workplace health and safety, training coordination, facilities and resource management, records management, and correspondence services.

You will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the branch by implementing administrative processes, coordinating business services and supporting organisational priorities. The position also requires strong people leadership.

As the Regional Support Officer, you will provide strategic and operational support to the region through the effective management of financial, human resource, governance and administrative functions. You will monitor regional expenditure and performance against budget and revenue targets, identify risks and trends and implement strategies to ensure compliance with departmental financial and accounting standards. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will provide expert advice on financial administration, budget development, reporting requirements, and cash flow forecasting to support sound decision-making and resource management.

In this key role, you will coordinate a broad range of workforce management activities, including recruitment and selection, establishment management, training and development, workplace health and safety and performance management processes. You will also provide administrative support for employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes, complaints and appeals. Additionally, you will coordinate regional responses to audits, stocktakes, system reviews and other corporate governance activities to ensure compliance with legislative and
departmental requirements.

You will oversee the effective management of regional facilities, accommodation, fleet, telecommunications, records management and archiving systems, ensuring resources are utilised efficiently and effectively. The role also involves providing leadership and guidance to regional administrative staff, maintaining key business systems and information resources and reviewing administrative and reporting processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and enhanced service delivery.

A key responsibility of the position is coordinating the preparation and quality assurance of briefing notes, ministerial correspondence, business plans, monthly reports, presentations and other high-level documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. You will also facilitate stakeholder engagement and regional liaison activities, working collaboratively with clients, Traditional Owners, employee representative groups and other stakeholders to support positive outcomes. As a leader within the organisation, you will actively contribute to a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and respect, supports improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and fosters a safe workplace free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.
