An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Policy Advisor to lead the development of innovative policy solutions that support road safety, balance industry needs, and deliver positive outcomes for Queensland communities. Working on complex and high-profile issues, you will provide strategic advice, drive policy reform, and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to influence the future of Queensland's transport system.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Define and analyse complex policy and develop solutions that consider a variety of perspectives, including but not limited to the public and industry.
- Identify and pursue policy opportunities to reform schemes improving road safety and balancing industry outcomes.
- Autonomously manage a program of policy and scheme administration work, delivering initiatives in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage and coordinate the resources of project teams to ensure that business outcomes, performance indicators, project deliverables and deadlines are achieved.

- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a program of policy and legislative work, with associated resource management and team leadership responsibilities. This includes ensuring that outcomes are delivered in accordance with government commitments.
- Experience in delivering a high standard of practice in interpreting and analysing complex information to inform policy decisions.
- Demonstrated experience in proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and effecting change relative to legislation, schemes or business process.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for an agency position at forums, with a view to achieving a positive outcome.
- Prior experience of actively building and supporting the professional development of staff.
