This is a temporary, full-time opportunity until August 2027, with possible extension.

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) plays an important role in Queensland's integrity framework and is an independent statutory body that reports to Parliament. We have statutory functions and powers under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) to uphold greater and easier access to information held by government agencies, assisting agencies to understand their obligations under the RTI and IP Acts, and use our regulatory powers to improve compliance.

About the Role

As the OIC's General Counsel, you will provide expert and strategic legal advice across the OIC, including in relation to exercising our powers and fulfilling our responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009, and other related legal matters as they arise. You will actively contribute to the achievement of OIC's strategic and operational objectives, through the identification and provision of advice relating to new and emerging legal issues that may impact the delivery and performance of our statutory functions and responsibilities.
