As the Principal Applications Specialist, you will work with standard enterprise tools, including Microsoft Power Platform and Power Automate to manage and automate business processes and provide tactical solutions for areas of the business without in-house IT functionality. You will also manage and support the department’s information management and IT service management platforms, namely ServiceNow, eDOCS and Correspondence Workflow, Orchestry and RecordPoint toolsets which form part of the Content Services Platform (CSP).

Your key responsibilities:

  • Apply strong problem solving and analysis skills to evaluate business workflows, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and recommend solutions using repeatable components where available.
  • Consult with key stakeholders to clarify application requirements and ensure satisfaction with results.
  • Provide leadership to the specialist applications team and encourage a team approach to achieve organisational goals including the provision of performance feedback.
  • Design and develop creative technical solutions to meet client needs while working within the limitations of the tools available. This may include designing custom applications to meet their unique business needs. *SWDN 5
  • Works with Service Desk support team, in collaboration with other IT team members, to resolve technical issues with existing applications.
  • Ensure routine maintenance tasks and system administrative activities are running smoothly to maintain reliable and effective operation of all applications.
  • Coordinate and manage technical project delivery in the team, including their planning, development timelines, and identifying potential problems that may cause delays in completion.
  • Assist with incident management and their resolution.
  • Management and ongoing support of the Correspondence Workflow, Orchestry and RecordPoint toolsets which form part of the Content Services Platform (CSP).

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability:

  • Creation and maintenance of IT documentation of applications, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience including accredited certifications in ServiceNow development automation and administration in a complex organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation and support and a thorough understanding of the SDLC.  
  • Provide advice, guidance, and facilitation to stakeholders and ITSM process owners with regard to ServiceNow best practice development, methodology and solution components. 
  • Performing quality assurance testing on new applications to ensure they meet industry standards for functionality and usability. 
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft development technologies, including Azure/.Net, REST API, Power Platform/D365, SQL Server, DevOps, and automated Azure pipeline deployments.
