In the role of Executive Director (Rail Contracts and Performance), you will demonstrate strong leadership and management capabilities to shape Queensland's rail transport system. Your responsibilities include:

Financial

  • Management of multi-billion-dollar rail contracts, including analysis and oversight of Queensland Rail's service performance and capital program.
  • Management of the Cattle Rail and Freight Transport Services Contracts.
  • Responsible for an expenditure budget of approximately $3 billion per year, including preparing financial submissions for Government consideration.

Stakeholder and outcome

  • Lead, manage, monitor and evaluate rail contracts, including the performance measurement and management of service contracts with Queensland Rail and other service providers.
  • Effectively lead, negotiate, liaise and influence at inter-governmental (state, federal and local) and industry executive levels.

Internal business

  • Lead rail program performance analysis, reporting and investment activities to inform statewide rail network services and requirements.
  • Develop and provide high-level strategic and technical advice and information to the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, General Manager and other executive management on complex issues relating to rail program analysis, reporting and investment.
  • Leadership and people management including the management of recruitment, performance, development, team communication, and ensuring a diverse workforce.
  • Management functions including business planning, financial management, governance and other responsibilities as legislated in the Public Service Act 2022 to ensure delivery of responsive, effective and efficient services to the community and the Government.

Role requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in rail commercial and contract management, accounting and/or financial management.
Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken before appointment to the role.
It is a condition of employment for a recommended appointee to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate before any appointment.
