Strategic Rail Branch is the Project Sponsor for major Rail Projects in Southeast Queensland. We provide strategic direction for rail planning, oversee investment and monitor performance to ensure rail infrastructure, assets, and services align with government priorities and deliver strong outcomes for customers, communities and industry.

We work collaboratively and proactively across Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Rail and Cross River Rail Delivery Authority, using data and analytics to inform decisions, manage risk, and deliver value-for-money outcomes.

In the role of Principal Advisor (Rail Project Outcomes), your responsibilities will include:
• Lead the design, development and continuous improvement of business and governance frameworks to strengthen accountability, decision-making and rail network outcomes.
• Provide high-quality support to senior executives in major rail project assurance and oversight activities, including coordinating governance processes and meeting materials.
• Work with subject matter experts to analyse project progress, identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Preparing complex correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and cabinet submissions on behalf of the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, General Manager and Executive Director, with clarity and impact.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing TMR in relevant governance forums.
• Engage with rail project delivery teams to promote the Project Sponsor role and support effective management of Sponsor Requirements.

Role requirements:
Major rail/capital project expertise: Experience in rail/capital project development, delivery or operations, particularly regarding governance frameworks, systems and stakeholders.
Stakeholder relationship management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with subject matter experts and a diverse range of stakeholders.
Analysis and influence: Ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, monitor project performance and recommend mitigations where required.
Corporate governance awareness: Demonstrated ability to apply governance frameworks to meet strategic objectives and transparent decision-making.
A criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Recommended appointee/s must disclose any previous serious discipline action prior to appointment.
