About your opportunity
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting important reform and review work within Queensland's criminal justice system? This is a temporary opportunity available for a period of three years. As a Policy and Research Officer, you will:
- Contribute to meaningful work that supports Queensland's response to sexual violence.
- Provide administrative and research support to the Prosecution Review Unit within the ODPP.
- Assist in preparing responses to enquiries and requests for information from the Office of the Victims Commissioner in collaboration with the Principal Policy Officer and legal staff.
- Support the day-to-day administration of the Prosecution Review Unit, ensuring information requests are managed efficiently and in accordance with policies, procedures and audit requirements.
- Undertake research, data collection and statistical analysis to support legal case review processes and reporting requirements.
- Gather, analyse and report on statistical information relating to the work of the ODPP.
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, reporting and other documentation.
- Work closely with legal and administrative professionals to support the delivery of high-quality responses, reports and submissions.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and present statistical data in a clear and user-friendly format.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using Power BI.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of the role of the ODPP within the criminal justice system and an appreciation of the needs of victims of crime.
