The Opportunity - Ranger, Great Sandy Marine Park
Join our maritime operations team as a OO5 Ranger - Compliance and help manage the spectacular Great Sandy Marine Park, where no two days are ever the same. One day you could be leading on-water compliance operations; the next, responding to marine wildlife strandings or protecting culturally significant sites.

Why Join Us

Every patrol, every project and every decision helps shape the future of our environment. Be part of a passionate, supportive team that values collaboration, diversity and safety—on the water and on land.

What You'll Do
Step into a leadership role where your impact is real and visible. You'll:
Lead compliance and enforcement operations in the marine park, protecting wildlife, habitats and sustainable use
Educate and connect with the community, promoting responsible recreation and conservation
Deliver hands-on conservation work, from pest and fire management to maintaining vital infrastructure like walking tracks, moorings and campgrounds
Manage and inspire a small team, driving projects that support environmental and recreational outcomes
Collaborate with agencies and stakeholders, including local communities and First Nations peoples
Respond to emergencies, from bushfires to flood recovery works to marine animal strandings.

Collaborative & Innovative Culture
Work alongside Traditional Owners and partner agencies including Department of Fisheries and Maritime Safety Queensland. Contribute ideas that improve safety, efficiency and environmental outcomes.

We're looking for a natural leader who:
• Has strong experience in compliance, enforcement
• Conservation skills and experience in land and marine management
• Understands and applies legislative knowledge to identify offences and take compliance action in the Marine Park and adjacent National Parks
• Brings practical skills in maintenance, construction, and project delivery
• Communicates confidently with the public and diverse stakeholders
