The VET Assurance team is responsible for assurance oversight of the registered training organisations (RTOs) that make up the Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) system. SAS deliver training and assessment services, subsidised by the department, to Queenslanders. With a growth mindset the team values learning and progress with innovation and building relationships. The team works with other teams to achieve the department goal of connecting people to quality training and services to prepare them for work now and in the future.
About the role
As the Senior Assurance Officer, you will:
• Implement the Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) assurance strategy with a focus on compliance with SAS Agreements, emphasising quality outcomes and risk management principles to achieve outcomes in line with the Department's strategic plan.
• Plan and conduct assurance activities of SAS, addressing high-risk, strategic, and contentious areas while adhering to quality systems and procedures and provide leadership, support and expert guidance to Assurance Officers.
• Maintain accurate, valid and comprehensive electronic record as well as provide a range of skills enhancements, moderating outcomes and managing the development and editing of assurance reports to ensure the accuracy of findings and the development of recommendations consistent with policy frameworks.
• Undertake research, analyse information, and make recommendations based on high-quality evidence on a broad range of issues relating to SAS framework and Agreement compliance including regarding the scope and mode of assurance activities with consideration of resources and timeframes.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who has:
• Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary assurance practices and data analysis processes, utilising existing knowledge (or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge) to apply this to the vocational education and training (VET) sector, in Queensland as it relates to Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) Agreement and funded programs.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse, develop, implement, and evaluate complex assurance and compliance issues, strategies, policies and initiatives, and develop options or make recommendations that establish a course of action.
• Highly developed ability to work within a team environment, including training and supervision of other team members, and the capability to work with minimum supervision, set priorities and ensure the team achieves outcomes within negotiated timeframes.
