The Senior Policy Officer provides policy and project support across vegetation management, statutory mapping, and land and soil management. You will undertake research and analysis, prepare advice and briefing materials, coordinate projects, and work with stakeholders to deliver policy outcomes that support the sustainable management of Queensland's land resources.

Our Land division are the stewards for 60% of the land in Queensland and we deliver a variety of land and property services across Queensland, including land and asset valuations; state land administration and on ground management surveying services; native title claims and compensation; Indigenous land services; vegetation management; place names; and government land acquisitions. As a Senior Policy Officer (AO6), you will contribute to the development and delivery of land management policy that supports the sustainable use of Queensland's natural resources. Operating within Land Policy and Strategy, Lands Division, you will provide policy, project and operational support across a range of complex issues including vegetation management, statutory mapping, and land and soil management planning.

In this role, you will undertake research and analysis to identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities affecting land management and use across Queensland. You will prepare policy advice, briefing materials, reports, correspondence and submissions to support strategic decision-making and government priorities. The position also plays a key role in coordinating projects, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and supporting the delivery of operational policy outcomes.

Working closely with colleagues across the department, other government agencies, industry representatives and community stakeholders, you will contribute to collaborative solutions on complex policy and regulatory matters. You will exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities, and provide timely, accurate advice to support effective service delivery and informed decision-making.

Success in this role looks like delivering high-quality policy advice, building productive stakeholder relationships, effectively managing priority projects, and contributing to practical policy outcomes that balance environmental, economic and community interests.
