The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager - Events to join the Innovation Division.

The Innovation Division leads Queensland's innovation agenda and supports economic growth, job creation and better outcomes for Queenslanders. The division works across government, industry, research, investment and community networks to strengthen Queensland's innovation ecosystem, encourage entrepreneurial growth, and help turn great ideas into practical outcomes.

As Manager - Events, you will lead a small team to plan and deliver internal and external science and innovation events that support the division's strategic priorities.

You will ensure events are purposeful, accessible, well governed, value for money and aligned to agreed outcomes.

In this role, you will oversee event planning, logistics, governance, reporting, evaluation and communications. You will work closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to design high-quality events that connect researchers, founders, businesses, investors, government and communities, while strengthening Queensland's science and innovation system.

You will build targeted partnerships across government, industry, research, investment and regional networks and support a Team Queensland approach to science and innovation. You will also develop and maintain systems to capture event costs, resource implications, in-kind support, benefits and lessons learned to inform prioritisation, reporting and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong event and project management skills, high-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation capability, and the ability to prepare clear advice, briefs, reports, correspondence and event communications for senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, budgets, logistics, risks, procurement and contracting processes in a government context, with a focus on value for money, transparency and compliance. You will also be able to use evidence, data, lessons learned and stakeholder insights to improve event impact, accessibility and outcomes for Queenslanders.

You will demonstrate the ability to lead, mentor and support a small team in a fast-paced environment, while contributing to a collaborative, accountable and inclusive workplace culture. You will role model Team Leader leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland and support culturally respectful, inclusive and accessible event delivery.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role. However, formal qualifications in journalism, media, communications, event management or marketing would be highly regarded.
