The Manager leads the Elevate – Leadership and Practice Excellence team to deliver high-quality practice leadership, governance and improvement activities that strengthen rehabilitative services and practice across Queensland youth detention centres. The role is responsible for driving practice consistency, supporting and implementing integrated service delivery, and advancing governance and continuous improvement frameworks that enable safe, accountable and effective rehabilitative practice.

As Manager, Elevate - Leadership and Practice Excellence, you will specifically:

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Provide and coordinate high level expert advice on a range of complex and best practice rehabilitative service delivery approaches.
  • Represent the department at inter-departmental committees and undertake effective consultation with key internal and external stakeholders on a range of strategic and operational matters.
  • Manage and coordinate submissions, briefs, correspondence and other initiatives and contribute a strategic perspective to responses.
  • Lead and oversee programs of work that promote consistent, evidence-informed rehabilitative programs and practices across youth detention services, ensuring the design, implementation and continuous improvement is in alignment with service outcomes, government priorities and recommendations from inquiries and reviews.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct research into youth detention matters and other practices which may affect the effective rehabilitation of youth, including the analysis of findings and the recommendations and identify appropriate courses of action.
  • Manage the Elevate - Leadership and Practice Excellence Team, including financial and human resource responsibilities.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the governance and strategic objectives of Youth Justice and the department.
