Lead RoadTek, Transport and Main Roads’ commercial government business, delivering approximately $840 million in Queensland Transport and Roads Infrastructure Program construction and maintenance works each year.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Infrastructure Management and Delivery, the General Manager will provide strategic leadership across RoadTek’s infrastructure delivery, commercial performance, service delivery, workforce capability and culture. With approximately 1,300 full-time equivalent employees across 29 centres throughout Queensland, the role has significant responsibility for ensuring RoadTek delivers safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes for government and communities. This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure executive to lead a complex statewide operation and strengthen RoadTek’s performance and capability.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is responsible for delivering an integrated transport network that supports connected communities and a sustainable, thriving and inclusive Queensland. RoadTek is a commercial government business within TMR, providing transport infrastructure solutions across civil construction and maintenance, structures, electrical, intelligent transport systems, line marking and digital infrastructure services.

The General Manager (RoadTek) leads a substantial statewide operation delivering approximately $840 million of Queensland Transport and Roads Infrastructure Program construction and maintenance works annually. Supported by approximately 1,300 full-time equivalent employees across 29 centres, RoadTek provides infrastructure delivery capability across Queensland and supports communities through its statewide operations and response to emergent and disruptive events.

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Infrastructure Management and Delivery, the General Manager will shape RoadTek's strategic direction, commercial performance, service delivery, workforce capability and culture while working collaboratively across TMR and with government, industry and community stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include
As General Manager (RoadTek), you will:

  • Lead RoadTek's strategic direction, business planning and operational performance as a Commercial Business Unit.
  • Oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of approximately $840 million in annual construction and maintenance programs.
  • Drive effective commercial, financial and performance management, including responsibility for a $5 million financial delegation.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Deputy Director-General and Director-General on infrastructure delivery, stakeholder expectations and RoadTek's operations.
  • Build strong relationships across TMR, government, industry, contractors, local government and relevant community stakeholders.
  • Strengthen service delivery through innovation, technology, data and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee governance, safety, quality, environmental and compliance systems supporting RoadTek's operations.
  • Lead workforce capability and culture, fostering a safe, diverse, collaborative and rewarding workplace.

The ideal candidate will bring

  • Extensive leadership experience within the infrastructure industry, including commercial infrastructure delivery and asset management.
  • A proven record of executive leadership in a large and complex organisation.
  • Strategic vision and the ability to navigate complex and changing environments with agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organisational performance, build capability and lead change.
  • Strong commercial, governance and risk management judgement and accountability.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
