Senior Advisor Health and Safety

The Senior Advisor, Health and Safety will provide and deliver workplace health, safety and rehabilitation services to senior leaders, managers and their employees within the QAS state office environment to ensure workplace health and safety risks are managed so far as reasonably practicable and employee health and rehabilitation programs are aligned with contemporary practice and expected organisational performance outcomes.
As part of the QAS statewide Workplace Health and Safety Unit, the role will also participate and strongly contribute to the broader team functions ensuring the effective implementation of the workplace health and safety management system, contemporary injury management and complex workers compensation claims management across the QAS.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and risk management practices, with proven success in the development and implementation of WHS management systems and initiatives that drive improved performance in complex and dynamic working environments.
- Proven ability to provide high-level professional leadership, coaching and advice to positively influence outcomes and safety culture, leading to compliance with systems and improved workplace health and safety performance.
- Demonstrated capability and experience in the contemporary injury management services including workers compensation, personal injury and case management services and the effective planning and oversight of rehabilitation and return to work services for key internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to effectively engage, collaborate, influence and innovate with a broad range of stakeholders, including the development of high-level employer responses to WorkCover.
- Proven ability to appropriately manage competing tasks and organisational priorities to ensure that services are maintained to various stakeholders and organisational outcomes are achieved.
Mandatory/Special conditions/Other requirements:
The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:
- Whilst not mandatory, possession of tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety and/or Health/Injury Management will be highly regarded.
- The successful applicant should be willing to perform the function of the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, including obtaining the applicable qualification once appointed, if required.
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
