AO8 Senior Project Manager - Temporary opportunity until 30 June 2027 with possible extension

About the role

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end management and delivery of complex projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed scope, timeframes, budget and governance requirements. This includes developing and maintaining integrated project plans, schedules, RAID logs, dependency maps, reporting packs and decision records to support transparent oversight and timely escalation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading delivery of transformation, digital, operational or service improvement projects.
  • Coordinating cross‑functional project teams, business SMEs, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Preparing high‑quality governance artefacts, briefs, submissions, steering committee papers and status reports.
  • Applying structured change, benefits and stakeholder engagement practices to support adoption and measurable business outcomes.
  • Maintaining disciplined delivery controls, identifying risks early and recommending practical options for resolution.

The role requires strong judgement, disciplined project management capability and confidence working in complex, fast‑moving environments.

About you

You will bring senior-level project delivery experience and a strong capability in structured governance, stakeholder engagement and delivery reporting.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience delivering complex projects in government, regulatory, digital transformation or customer service environments.
  • Strong capability in planning, scheduling, dependency management, risk and issue management, financial tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and defensible documentation for senior leaders and decision-making forums.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Sound judgement, accountability and attention to detail.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Queensland Government or statutory authority experience.
  • Exposure to Salesforce, digital service delivery, licensing, workflow automation or contemporary project delivery tools.
  • Familiarity with benefits management, change impact assessment, procurement, vendor coordination or portfolio reporting.

Qualifications: No mandatory qualification required. Project management or change management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, PMBOK, PROSCI) are highly regarded.
