As Queensland's independent building and construction regulator, we play a critical role in protecting people, supporting industry and building trust in a system that touches every part of our community, from safe homes and liveable communities to jobs and economic security.

We support a $69 billion industry by protecting consumers, ensuring the industry is well supported, providing a safety net through the Home Warranty Scheme, and proactively delivering education.

A thriving building and construction industry benefits us all. But it only works when people feel informed, enabled and protected. That's where we come in.

We support industry, protect consumers and uphold standards. We make fair and transparent decisions, deliver services that build trust, and support a strong, sustainable industry.

About the role

The Internal Review Unit is where complex decisions are challenged, tested and carefully reconsidered. As a Principal Review Officer, you'll be trusted to review a diverse range of matters, balancing evidence, legislation and competing perspectives to deliver fair and transparent outcomes. With more than 100 review matters moving through the unit each month and tight statutory timeframes, you'll need the resilience, judgement and focus to manage a demanding workload while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Along the way, you'll help strengthen decision-making across the Commission by identifying opportunities to improve processes, practices and customer outcomes.

About you

You're someone who stays calm when the workload doesn't. You enjoy getting to the heart of complex issues, weighing evidence, interpreting legislation and making decisions that are fair, defensible and well-reasoned. Thriving in a high-volume environment, you're resilient, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities without losing sight of the detail. You communicate with clarity and confidence, turning complex concepts into practical advice and decision notices that stand up to scrutiny. Just as importantly, you're generous with your knowledge, taking pride in mentoring others, sharing expertise and helping colleagues build capability and confidence.
