The QAS Communications Design & Delivery Unit (CDDU) deliver ICT services to Queensland Ambulance Service Triple Zero (000) and mission critical environments. Your part in the ongoing success of our business in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of communications and data services used by the QAS to deliver contemporary ambulance services to the Queensland community.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated achievement in the successful delivery of end-to-end project management, within government, and across multiple complex projects, including the planning, design, construction and commissioning phases. Proven experience in the development, monitoring and management of project budgets, cashflows and associated documentation.  
  • Expertise in the engagement, coordination and management of large, multidisciplinary teams of consultants; internal and external subject matter experts; and QAS business units in the development and delivery of complex designs and specifications.  
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply government requirements, relevant legislation and policy, and contribute to project planning and the provision of specialist advice.  Sufficient technical knowledge and experience including the proven ability to review and interpret designs, plans and technical reports and coordinate detailed quality assurance through subject matter experts and a third-party audit process.   
  • Proven proactive, innovative and analytical judgement, risk management and problem-solving skills in the planning and delivery of capital works, with a flexible and agile approach in a complex, rapidly changing and sensitive organisational environment. 
  • Demonstrated highly-developed communication, influencing, consultation and collaboration skills including the ability to prepare and write high level correspondence, presentations and reports.   
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders and influence these parties to achieve organisational objectives and resolve issues.    
  • Strong leadership, time management and organisational skills and the proven ability to manage and coordinate personal workload as well as that of internal and external team members, to effectively and efficiently prioritise tasks and meet operational objectives and deadlines. 

Mandatory/Special conditions/Other requirements:

Whilst not mandatory, the following will be considered highly desirable for the role:

  • Accreditation and applied experience in relevant project methodologies, including Prince2 and Agile  
  • Previous experience in project managing large scale ICT Projects and leading a team 
  • Experience with project management software (including MS Project and project portfolio management tools) 
  • Experience with the specification and/or deployment of frontline communications technologies and systems such as DC and UPS distribution, dispatch consoles, console furniture and fit-out, computer aided dispatch, datacomms, structured and block cabling, contact centre design/build, CCTV & AV, equipment racking, voice recording, and LMR & DMR.
