As Director, Community Investment and Grants, you will lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships' grants and investment framework. The role is responsible for shaping contemporary, transparent and effective funding initiatives that support government priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities across Queensland.
You will lead end-to-end grants and investment management, including program design, funding allocation, approvals, monitoring, acquittals, reporting, contract management, probity and compliance. You will work closely with internal teams, communities, non-government organisations and other government agencies to ensure funding decisions are evidence-based, well governed and aligned to strategic priorities, including Closing the Gap.
Key responsibilities include:
• leading the delivery of ATSIP grants and investment programs, including the grants pipeline and timely approval processes
• providing high-level strategic advice, briefings and reporting to senior executives, the Director-General and the Minister
• overseeing governance, risk, probity, compliance, contract management and financial accountability across the grants lifecycle
• using data, insights and evaluation to inform decision-making and improve program performance and outcomes
• building productive relationships across government, community and nongovernment sectors to support effective program delivery
• managing complex and sensitive funding matters with professionalism, sound judgement and cultural capability
• leading, developing and supporting a high-performing team, while fostering a respectful, safe and inclusive workplace
• representing the department in key forums, committees and stakeholder engagements.
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader with strong experience in grants, investment, program management, governance and stakeholder engagement. You will bring sound judgement, strong analytical capability and the ability to influence, negotiate and provide authoritative advice in a complex operating environment. You will also demonstrate the ability to lead change, strengthen systems and processes, build team capability and deliver practical outcomes that support communities.
Mandatory requirements and other conditions:
• Demonstrated cultural capability and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and stakeholders is required.
• Regular travel may be required to meet with internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and team members, including overnight stays where necessary.
• A current driver licence is required.
• Employment screening will be required.
• No mandatory degree or professional qualification is identified in the role description.
