Who we are:
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is a Queensland Government agency that unlocks land and accelerates housing, planning and infrastructure delivery—creating liveable places and enabling economic growth. Our work helps deliver safe, secure and affordable homes and supports thriving communities across the state.
Empowered by the Economic Development Act 2012, EDQ has unique planning and approval powers to help unblock complex projects and bring development-ready land to market. Our purpose is simple: help Queenslanders find a place to call home, create more jobs closer to home, and support liveable communities that reflect Queensland's way of life.
We work across government and with industry to attract investment, enable jobs and deliver projects that make a measurable difference for Queenslanders.
About the Role:
Join EDQ's Office of the Chief Executive and play a pivotal role supporting the CEO to navigate complex priorities, drive strategic outcomes and ensure effective coordination across the organisation.
- Provide strategic, tactical and operational advice to the CEO on key priorities, emerging issues and risks.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CEO's Office, ensuring significant and sensitive matters are identified and appropriately managed.
- Coordinate high-quality executive briefings, correspondence, submissions and ministerial requests.
- Lead key corporate reporting, governance and accountability processes, including Estimates and service delivery.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of EDQ's strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Provide strategic direction and advice on corporate communications and stakeholder engagement across government, industry and the broader community.
- Build strong relationships across EDQ and represent the CEO/COO with key stakeholders as required.
About You:
You're a strategic advisor who thrives in complex environments, providing trusted advice to senior executives and helping drive key organisational priorities. You will bring a strong public sector background, ideally Queensland Government, or experience in a similarly complex, high accountability environment.
- Proven experience providing strategic advice and support to senior executives, including Chief of Staff, executive office or secretariat roles where you have personally produced briefs, board papers and submissions.
- Experience coordinating Estimates, reporting requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Government processes, governance, risk and accountability.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including briefs, submissions and executive correspondence.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills at an executive level.
- Ability to anticipate emerging issues, get ahead of them, provide practical advice and manage competing priorities.
- Calm, adaptable and collaborative, with the confidence to represent senior executives when required.
- Experience with Source or a similar correspondence management system would be an advantage.
