Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.
About your opportunity:
This is a permanent opportunity to join the ODPP as the Principal Practice Manager. In this senior leadership role, you will lead the Practice Manager group across all chambers, providing strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure consistent, effective and high-quality service delivery across the organisation.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage the Practice Manager group across all ODPP chambers, fostering a high-performing, accountable and collaborative culture.
- Drive consistent, efficient and standardised chamber operations across all locations through strong leadership and clear expectations.
- Establish and embed organisation-wide frameworks, processes and practices that support equitable and consistent outcomes for staff and stakeholders.
- Work closely with Practice Managers to oversee case load allocation and court work distribution, using data and insights to identify risks, address workload imbalances and improve operational effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategies that support workforce sustainability, employee wellbeing and effective resource management across chambers.
- Champion the digital-by-default approach by leading the consistent use of THEMIS and other digital tools for case management, reporting and administrative functions.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multi-site or multi-team operational functions, with a track record of driving standardisation, consistency, and accountability across a dispersed workforce.
- Strong people leadership capability, including experience in performance management, conduct processes and coaching within a complex public sector or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating, or overseeing competency based professional development and training programs, including induction, within a multi-team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Queensland public sector employment instrument framework, including the Public Sector Act 2022, Industrial Relations Act 2016, applicable Commissioner's Directives, and DOJ polices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse operational data and performance metrics to identify risk, inform decision-making, and develop evidence-based strategies to improve organisational outcomes.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with a range of stakeholders including senior legal professionals, executive leadership, and external partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice and the requirements of the Charter of Victims' Rights, and the ability to apply these principles in operational and people management contexts.
Mandatory requirements:
While there are no mandatory qualifications, tertiary qualifications in law, public administration and/or business administration will be highly regarded.
Why join us?
This is more than a role; it's your opportunity to engage with some of the state's most pressing legal matters while making a genuine difference in the community. Think you're ready for the challenge?
