The OIC Field Paramedic, based in the Torres and Cape District, is a unique role within the QAS, as it encompasses two distinct roles, clinical and community engagement, due to the nature of the pre-hospital care needs of the community within this remote location.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues affecting ambulance service delivery and the proven ability to understand and apply relevant resource management principles to support the provision of high-quality pre-hospital patient care.
• Leadership ability with demonstrated capabilities in managing the delivery of pre-hospital care within a small and diverse community.
• Contemporary knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their cultural protocols and issues impacting their health, to ensure the successful delivery of appropriate and high-quality pre-hospital emergency care and education within their communities.
• Demonstrated experience and capability in successfully delivering effective education programs to a diverse range of people, in particular, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Well-developed communication, negotiation, consultation, and collaboration skills including the ability to engage with the local community and form productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to solve problems, logically analyse financial and performance data and contribute to the development, implementation and review of operational plans and local work practices to drive performance improvement.
• Experience in ensuring that all equipment and vehicles are maintained in a state of readiness to ensure the security, safety, and maintenance of allocated equipment in accordance with QAS standards.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining medical, physical, and psychological wellbeing in order to safely undertake all of the duties of ambulance work.
