Are you an environmental professional looking to make a practical impact across Queensland's transport infrastructure network?
RoadTek is seeking an Environmental Officer to provide specialist environmental management guidance and advice supporting the delivery of road construction and maintenance projects across Queensland.
Your work location is negotiable within the following RoadTek offices: Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Warwick, Bundaberg, Sunshine
Coast, Gold Coast or Brisbane. This is a permanent, full-time role with frequent short-period travel across Queensland.
About the role
As an Environmental Officer, you will work with RoadTek teams to support environmental compliance and good environmental management practices
throughout project delivery and operations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Providing technical and specialist environmental advice on legislation, compliance, approvals and environmental management during project delivery.
• Reviewing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), environmental reports and relevant permits and approvals.
• Undertaking environmental audits across projects and depots to support compliance with environmental management plans, legislation, contractual
requirements and RoadTek's certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of RoadTek's Environmental Management System.
• Delivering internal environmental training across diverse locations and teams.
• Supporting RoadTek staff delivering road construction and maintenance contracts to meet environmental obligations.
• Building effective relationships with environmental officers, internal teams, external stakeholders and relevant agencies.
• Working collaboratively on environmental and cultural heritage matters to support consistent outcomes across Queensland.

About you
To thrive in this role, you will bring sound knowledge of environmental and cultural heritage legislation, contractual obligations and Environmental Management System requirements. You will be able to analyse environmental and project information, identify risks and opportunities, provide practical solutions and communicate technical information effectively with a range of stakeholders.
A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and a Class C driver licence are mandatory. Environmental auditing qualifications or experience, and training and assessment qualifications or relevant training delivery experience, are desirable.
