As Area Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in securing land and property solutions that enable major infrastructure projects, influencing strategic decisions and delivering lasting benefits for communities across the state.

The purpose of the Area Manager is to provide leadership, advice and guidance on the acquisition and disposal of transport properties. This includes developing strategies and negotiating collaborative outcomes with stakeholders. You will lead a team across a geographic area or special project, acting as a property expert to support decision-making and transport infrastructure planning.

A key aspect of the role is to interpret, apply and review relevant legislation relating to the compulsory acquisition of land for transport infrastructure, and provide advice to executive management and the Minister's Office on property matters.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and manage a team delivering a program of property-related projects, ensuring legal and physical right of way is secured in a timely manner. This includes overseeing property acquisitions, compensation negotiations, community consultation, advisory services (including cost estimates), and disposals.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership to deliver projects within agreed timeframes, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, influence collaborative outcomes, and manage expectations, including identifying and addressing politically sensitive or high-risk issues.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through active participation in performance and development conversations.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

• Possession of a degree in Property from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification.
• Registration or ability for immediate registration as a valuer in accordance with the provisions of the Valuers Registration Act 1992 in Queensland.
• Possession of, or ability to acquire, a ‘C' class drivers' licence.

Requirements of the role

• Ability to apply case law and legislation for compulsory property acquisition and other property dealings.
• Experience in successfully managing the acquisition/compulsory acquisition (and disposal) of various types of property, including the application of relevant valuation and legal principles.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
