Strengthen organisational capability and support safer workplaces The Department of Justice is seeking a highly capable workplace violence and aggression specialist to support the ongoing development and implementation of initiatives that improve the management of workplace violence and aggression risks across the department.

As the Principal Consultant, Workplace Violence and Aggression, you will provide specialist expertise, practical support and contemporary advice to strengthen organisational capability and improve workplace violence and aggression prevention, management and response practices. Working closely with leaders, employees and key stakeholders across a diverse range of operational and corporate environments, you will help deliver initiatives that support safer workplaces and better outcomes for employees.

This role is part of the department's established Workplace Violence and Aggression Program and will contribute to the continued maturity of the department's approach to violence and aggression risk management through capability development, education, specialist risk advice, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement activities.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of initiatives that strengthen the department's management of workplace violence and aggression risks.
  • Lead capability development activities, including the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of workplace violence and aggression training and educational resources.
  • Provide specialist advice and practical guidance on violence and aggression risk management strategies, controls and prevention approaches.
  • Support the review of incident and risk information to identify trends, lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of resources, tools and guidance materials informed by contemporary practice and evidence.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders, employees and external stakeholders to understand operational requirements and support effective implementation of workplace violence and aggression initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across the department to promote a proactive and consistent approach to managing workplace violence and aggression risks.

What we're looking for

You will be an experienced practitioner with expertise in workplace health and safety, risk management, security or a related discipline.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Significant experience applying risk management principles to identify, assess and manage workplace violence and aggression risks within complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering capability development or behavioural change initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, briefing materials and guidance documents.
  • Proven ability to build productive stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes through collaboration and partnership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate information and evidence into practical improvements.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and creating safer, healthier and more respectful workplaces.
