Join Transport and Main Roads as a Senior Cultural Heritage Officer and play a key role in delivering major road and infrastructure projects across Central Queensland.
Working as part of the Environment and Cultural Heritage team, you'll provide expert advice on Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural heritage matters, undertake site assessments, develop management plans, build strong partnerships with Traditional Owner groups and help ensure projects remain compliant with legislation while protecting places of cultural significance.

Are you passionate about cultural heritage and looking for an opportunity to make a genuine impact across Queensland's transport network?
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a Senior Cultural Heritage Officer to join our Environment and Cultural Heritage team within Central Queensland Region.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of road and infrastructure projects while helping protect and manage places of cultural significance throughout the region.
Based in Mackay, Rockhampton or Barcaldine, you'll work across landscapes stretching from coastal communities to the Central West Outback, collaborating with project teams, Traditional Owner groups, consultants and key stakeholders.
As the region's senior cultural heritage specialist, you'll provide expert advice that supports the successful planning, design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure while ensuring compliance with cultural heritage legislation and best practice management principles.
What you'll be doing
Provide specialist cultural heritage advice across a range of road and infrastructure projects.
Lead cultural heritage assessments, site surveys and risk management activities.
Prepare reports, management plans, agreements and other cultural heritage documentation.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups and other stakeholders.
Negotiate and facilitate cultural heritage agreements and engagement activities.
Manage consultants and cultural heritage service providers.
Lead regional cultural heritage planning, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Deliver training and guidance to project teams and support the development of other cultural heritage officers.
Participate in field work, project inspections, audits and stakeholder forums throughout the region.
About You
You'll bring qualifications in archaeology, anthropology, heritage management, social science or a related discipline, along with the ability to interpret legislation, manage complex heritage matters and build trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication, sound judgement and a collaborative approach.
Experience in cultural heritage management within infrastructure or transport projects will be highly regarded.
