The Financial Accounting Unit, within the Enabling Solutions Group, is responsible for financial governance, taxation, financial reporting, general ledger management and asset accounting.
As Director (Financial Accounting), you will provide strategic and professional leadership of these functions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services and compliance with legislative, regulatory and whole-of-government requirements across Transport and Main Roads.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Possession of a degree or equivalent in the areas of accounting, commerce or business administration is a requirement for this role. Professional membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the National Institute of Accountants, or qualifications from an overseas accounting body that are recognised by at least two of the above bodies as having equivalent requirements for membership, would also be highly regarded.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
Requirements of the role
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a large and complex organisation including setting strategic direction, leading change and delivering high-quality client-focused financial services.
• Expert knowledge of contemporary accounting principles, frameworks and systems, with the ability to apply legislative, accounting standard, taxation and Queensland Government financial requirements to complex departmental operations.
• Strong judgement, integrity and analytical capability to provide clear, evidence-based and courageous advice on financial reporting, taxation, internal controls, governance and financial risk.
• Highly developed communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with a record of building productive relationships and resolving complex issues with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to inspire and develop a capable, inclusive and accountable workforce, align resources with priorities, and drive continuous improvement in financial management capability and outcomes.
