Shift Supervisor

Take the lead in shaping a safe, supportive and rehabilitation-focused environment for young people at the new Woodford Youth Detention Centre (WYDC). As a Shift Supervisor, you will coordinate centre-wide operations, lead and support frontline staff, respond to critical incidents, and ensure the effective delivery of services that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for young people.

While the role will eventually be based in Woodford in mid to late 2027, during the construction phase the successful applicant will be based in a variety of locations including Wacol, Caboolture or the Brisbane CBD, which could include overnight stays.
If Detention Youth Worker training has not been completed and you are offered a role, commencement will be on the next available detention youth worker course in early 2027. Further, permanent employment will be confirmed on successful completion of your Detention Youth Worker training.

As a Shift Supervisor, you will specifically:
- Manage and coordinate staff on a shift-by-shift basis to deliver integrated centre wide services and activities for young people, including accommodation, casework, programs, education, and medical services.
- Assist with the development, documentation, implementation, and monitoring of effective, efficient, safe, and secure operating policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Input and monitor information in systems, ensuring quality assurance measures are implemented (e.g., incident reports, suicide risk assessments, and security audits).
- Identify, assess, and report risks related to safety, security, and service delivery in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and review emergency and contingency plans, manage and coordinate the Centre's response to internal and external emergencies, and ensure the functionality and compliance of all security processes and mechanisms, including regular system checks, to enable safe, lawful, and effective incident management.

Mandatory requirements of the role include:
- Valid Blue card
- Completion of or ability to complete Detention Youth Worker training.
- Senior First Aid Certificate or equivalent
