As a Project Officer, you'll play an important role in developing the plans and strategies that guide how protected areas and state forests are managed across Northern Queensland. You'll research and analyse environmental, cultural and social information, assist with preparing management plans, values assessments, maps and reports, and help develop practical planning solutions that support conservation and visitor outcomes. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll engage with rangers, Traditional Owners, government agencies, community groups and other stakeholders to gather information, facilitate discussions and contribute to decision-making processes.
The role also includes preparing briefings, correspondence and recommendations, providing advice on planning matters and supporting a range of projects that influence the long-term management of Queensland's protected areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys research, problem-solving, collaboration and turning complex information into practical outcomes that make a real difference on the ground.
