Love being organised, helping people and keeping things running smoothly? This could be the role for you.
Legal Aid Queensland is looking for a capable and enthusiastic Family Law Litigation Support Officer to join our Southport team. If you enjoy variety in your day, take pride in being the person who keeps everything on track, and want to do work that genuinely helps people, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team making a real difference.
This role is perfect for someone with legal administration experience who enjoys working in a busy environment, supporting lawyers, helping clients and making sure the details are right. No two days are quite the same — one minute you might be preparing court documents, the next you could be helping organise a conference, assisting a client, or making sure a file is exactly where it needs to be.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will:
  • manage the day-to-day administration of case files, including opening, closing and archiving files, filing and serving documents, data entry, searches and transcribing
  • help lawyers get ready for matters by preparing correspondence, keeping detailed file notes, gathering client information, drafting affidavits and preparing court documents and subpoenas
  • compile briefs for counsel, including photocopying, indexing, typing instructions and pulling together relevant material
  • be the first point of contact for incoming calls, providing legal information, referral advice and helping clients prepare applications and legal documents
  • help lawyers stay organised by managing calendars, scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings with clients, interpreters, experts and other stakeholders
  • make practical arrangements such as room bookings, videoconferences, flights, accommodation and hire cars
  • ensure grants of aid are correctly allocated to files, process requests for grants or extensions of aid through elodge, pay accounts, generate cheques and prepare submissions to grants
  • obtain court lists, organise material, coordinate clients at court, assist counsel at conferences and attend court to take and relay instructions when required
  • support general administration, including spreadsheets, records management, mail, equipment and supplies
  • assist with front counter duties as needed.

Why you'll love it

This role is ideal for someone who:
  • enjoys being the person who keeps the wheels turning
  • likes a mix of administration, client contact and practical problem-solving
  • thrives in a busy team environment
  • wants to do meaningful work that supports vulnerable Queenslanders
  • takes pride in being organised, reliable and one step ahead.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:
  • has legal administration experience and can work independently
  • is confident using information technology systems, including Microsoft Office, and can quickly learn organisation-specific programmes
  • understands the principles of trauma-informed practice
  • communicates well with a wide range of people, including clients with complex needs
  • stays calm, positive and professional in busy or difficult situations
  • provides courteous, prompt and high-quality support.

Why Legal Aid Queensland?

At Legal Aid Queensland, the work you do behind the scenes has a real impact out in the community. You'll be part of a team that helps people through challenging times and supports access to justice for vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders.
This is a great opportunity to bring your administration skills to a role with purpose, variety and a supportive team environment.
If you're organised, people-focused and ready to be an important part of a busy family law team, we'd love to hear from you.
