The Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating the engineering profession under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (Qld).
BPEQ is responsible for registering engineers, managing conduct and compliance investigations, ensuring professional standards, public protection and the integrity of the profession.
This role provides essential support to BPEQ's Legal Compliance & Investigation unit, working closely with the Principal Legal Officer and the broader legal and investigations team.
The position delivers high quality case management and administrative support that underpins the Board's statutory responsibilities.
Key to the role is effective case coordination, accurate and well maintained records and clear, professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.

This position plays a key role within BPEQ's Legal Compliance & Investigations Unit, providing high‑quality case management, administrative coordination, and operational support to the Principal Legal Officer and broader legal and investigations team. The role directly contributes to BPEQ's statutory responsibilities by assisting in the management and coordination of investigations into professional conduct matters and potential breaches of the Act.
The position is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining accurate case records, and ensuring all documentation is captured within appropriate electronic systems. It supports the preparation of legal papers, reports, and briefing materials, and assists with the processing of Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) applications. The role also provides professional communication and liaison with internal staff, engineers, complainants, legal representatives, and other stakeholders, ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and in accordance with legislative and governance requirements.
A key focus of the role is ensuring that investigative and legal processes are conducted transparently, consistently, and within required timeframes. This includes maintaining case registers and databases, monitoring enquiries, escalating issues appropriately, and supporting the delivery of high‑quality regulatory outcomes. The position also contributes to broader operational activities, including supporting financial documentation, assisting with onboarding new staff, and identifying opportunities to improve administrative systems and processes.
The role requires a strong commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and ethical conduct, with all work undertaken in alignment with the Queensland Public Sector values and the Leadership Competencies for Queensland. The successful applicant will demonstrate sound judgement, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a proactive approach to supporting team objectives. High‑level written and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder engagement capability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems are essential. Experience in legal, regulatory, or compliance environments is highly desirable, along with knowledge of the RTI and IP legislative frameworks.
