We are seeking an enthusiastic employee to join our team! This is an exciting permanent full-time opportunity located in Brisbane Metropolitan. Biomedical Technology Services provide a comprehensive health technology management, service and support capability to Hospital and Health Services and other parts of Queensland Health through the state-wide delivery of biomedical engineering, diagnostic medical physics, and radiology support services. As a Biomedical Engineer you will be integral part of a team delivering biomedical engineering services to ensure safe and effective use and management of healthcare technology.

Key Responsibilities include:
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
- Provide engineering support for health technology systems and associated biomedical ICT infrastructure including design, analysis, testing, installation, commissioning, investigation, and problem solving.
- Provide engineering support in the acquisition of healthcare technology and associated systems. This assistance may include:
- Preparing technical specifications.
- Undertaking technical and performance assessments of equipment.
- Evaluating technical aspects of tender responses, including preparation of reports to be included in evaluation analyses.
- Acceptance testing new equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and relevant safety standards prior to clinical use.
- Participate in healthcare technology related safety incidents, downtime investigations, vulnerability, and hazard alert responses, and other patient-safety / quality improvement related activities.
- Provide engineering support for cybersecurity of healthcare technologies and associated systems.
- Provide engineering services and support to technical services conducting maintenance activities, installation, commissioning, and other support for healthcare technology.
- Use contemporary software and information systems to analyse, manipulate, organise and present data.
Key Competencies:
- A graduate level of knowledge, expertise and skill in biomedical engineering or related engineering field.
- An ability to apply engineering principles and critical analysis to complete engineering projects and/or deliver engineering services.
- A high level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with stakeholders and work effectively with colleagues.
- An ability to provide guidance and education to others.
- A commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements:
- The successful applicant must hold at least a four-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering as recognised by Engineers Australia.
- The successful applicant must either hold or have the willingness and ability to make timely progress towards obtaining, the licences, certifications and accreditations required to carry out activities within the relevant discipline areas. For example: Registration as an RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland).
- A “C” class drivers licence is required, and you will be required to drive Queensland Health vehicles as part of general duties
- It may be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR),varicella (chicken pox),pertussis (whooping cough),hepatitis B, tuberculosis

- Travel, Overtime and Work Location Requirements: BTS is committed to providing high quality, responsive service to health facilities throughout the state. Consequently, staff may, following consultation, be required to: attend work at any location within a local government area, perform occasional overtime, participate in arrangements to ensure coverage (e.g. on-call, week-end rosters, early/late shifts), and to travel for periods of up to two weeks at a time.
