About the role
Provide high level Social Work support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families as a member of the Caboolture Ngarrama Maternity Program multidisciplinary team. The Social Worker will work in partnership with families to optimise psychosocial, and cultural outcomes and improve engagement with health care services and community based social, emotional, and cultural support services. The social worker will work in collaboration with the Ngarrama Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Maternal and Infant Health Workers, Midwifery, and allied health team, to support women and their families.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver high level evidence based clinical services, including crisis counselling, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards through assessing clinical risk and the complex psychosocial needs of patients/families/carers.
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural protocols, especially in relation to areas such as Women's and Men's Business, Sorry Business and family and kinship structures.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, families, community and staff across Metro North Health Service and relevant external partners.
