About the role
This role is suited to a General Practitioner and/or Senior Medical Officer - Rural Generalist (RACGP or ACRRM) – who has specific expertise in providing medical care for rural and remote communities.
This role provides clinical services to inpatients and outpatients of Kilcoy Hospital, including management of patients presenting to the Emergency Care Centre and providing clinical supervision of ambulant care services including day infusions and (in the future) renal dialysis. The 20 inpatient beds support the secondary care needs of the local community (including one palliative care bed) as well as Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation & Management (GEM) patients from the northern end of Metro North Hospital Health (MNH).
We are going through an exciting period of transition where we are refreshing our regional health care service delivery model so we are better positioned to respond to emerging challenges and to meet the demand of patient care into the next decade. This involves an increased medical workforce,Allied Health presence and co-ordination of services. Opportunities for further experience and professional development may be supported at Caboolture Hospital Emergency Department as well as opportunities for skills translation at the Caboolture Minor Injuries and Illness Clinic or at the Woodford Correctional Centre Health Unit.
Telehealth Services are also rapidly expanding across all specialities, including Renal, Orthopaedic, Hospital in the Home (HITH) and Mental Health. We are looking to expand Chronic Disease management - Diabetes, Obesity, O.A. and Chronic Back Pain.
