About you: 

You are a qualified Public Health Practitioner who can demonstrate motivation to work in sexual health and with our core client groups: men who have sex with men, sex workers, young people, those considering or who identify as transgender, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women accessing information and referral for termination of unwanted pregnancy, people who inject drugs and people living with blood borne viruses. You can apply a high level of knowledge, expertise, and skills addressing sexual health and blood-borne virus issues in a complex contemporary public health environment and can engage in high-level consultation and provide high-level professional advice on sexual health and blood-borne virus issues to stakeholders both within and outside the discipline.

Your opportunity: 

Lead area-wide planning, development, implementation and evaluation of multi-strategy, multi-sector HIV, Viral hepatitis and sexual health programs and relevant initiatives in line with relevant national, state, and departmental policy directions. Operate across Cairns and Hinterland engaging with governmental and non-governmental organisations regarding sexually transmissible infections (STIs), blood-borne viruses (BBVs) and sexual health issues.

Your role: 

  • Coordinate and manage research initiatives aimed at informing programs and service delivery addressing HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexual health to facilitate team and healthcare development.
  • Coordinate planning, strategy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of population health services and programs addressing HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexual health issues.
  • Application of evidence, theory, and judgement in planning, implementing, and evaluating services and programs addressing HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexual health.
  • Undertake quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities to ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective care.
  • Advocate for and deliver high level healthy public policies and services that promote and protect the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities considering population diversity and health inequality.
