The Pharmacy Department team are seeking a Pharmacist - Senior Cardiology (CCU) to join them. In this role you will be required to provide leadership and high-level pharmacy services to a complex and varied workload on the CCU and Medical Wards, with a high degree of independence and initiative and to develop services to promote and maintain best practice care of patients.

About your opportunity: 

The Pharmacy Department at Cairns Hospital (CH) provides a pharmacy service to the clinical areas of the hospital.  Current service delivery focuses on; the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to our patients; an extensive imprest service, an extensive education program and clinical trials.

About your role: 

  • Provide general clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders regarding clinical pharmacy services delivery.
  • Deliver high level clinical pharmacy services within a single or multidisciplinary team within the Cairns Hospital in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required to ensure continuum of care.
  • Provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced pharmacists and pharmacy assistants to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards within clinical pharmacy services.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant.
