About your opportunity:
The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services is responsible for delivering mental health, alcohol and other drugs services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and for supporting other mental health, alcohol and other drugs services in the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait Northern Peninsula Area. Its primary objective is to ensure access to a comprehensive range of treatment and support services, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, disability support, as well as early intervention, and mental health prevention and promotion.
About your role:
- Deliver high quality evidence based clinical services (including tele-triage, tele-health assessments, generic and profession specific biopsychosocial mental health assessment, treatment, investigation, diagnosis and short term client management) child and youth, adult, and elderly consumers in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
- Undertake clinical governance activities, such as the development of clinical practices, procedures and guidelines that support the continuum of care.
- Maintain and support reporting lines to the Access Services Team Leader and Access Services Operations Manager to ensure delivery of clinical services within a quality improvement framework, in a multidisciplinary team across a complex and varied work environment.
- Provide specialist mental health consultation to health professionals within key service partners, including information relative to the Mental Health Act (2016), treatment and intervention strategies as appropriate.
- Monitor the professional standards and outcomes produced by staff and/or the work unit's activities that may lead to the identification and implementation of service improvement initiatives.
