This position is required to maintain Cairns & Hinterland Hospital & Health Service (CHHHS) assets including but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance on lines of reticulation, LP gas equipment, hot and cold water pumps and related equipment.

About your opportunity:
Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services currently consist of professional, operational, administrative and trade staff. The Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing and carpentry. These responsibilities are exercised through the management of in-house labour and the management and supervision of day labour and/or contractors where necessary to supplement in-house labour.
About your role:
- Carry out minor new works as directed by the Line This may include but not be restricted to running services for new building works and the installation of new equipment supporting fixed services.
- Monitor and report on the work of contractors including whether they are meeting deadlines, specifications and standards.
- Participate in the “ON-CALL” roster as
- Participate in annual condition assessments of statutory hydraulic and plumbing plant and equipment for compliance reporting.
- Supervision & training of apprentices.
- Comply with and utilise policies, procedures, Regulations and Standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices such as Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policies.
