The Occupational Therapy Department are seeking a Occupational Therapist – Senior (Acute) to join them. In this role you will be required to provide leadership and mentoring to assist in the ongoing development of Occupational Therapy services within the Cairns Hospital primarily within Acute Care, linking with other allied health practitioners in relevant clinical areas as directed by the Director of Occupational Therapy.

About your opportunity:
Deliver high level Occupational Therapy clinical services within Cairns Hospital including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED) and Surgical inpatients/outpatients with appropriate community liaison as directed by the Director of Occupational Therapy.
About your role:
- Utilise high level professional and clinical knowledge, expertise, clinical decision making, organisational and risk management skills to enhance safe and efficient service delivery on a daily basis, across the continuum of care.
- Demonstrate highly developed communication skills with patients, their families and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Initiate, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services including the review of clinical practices, workplace procedures and protocols in line with directions of the Department.
- Provide direction, clinical practice supervision, education, mentoring and assisting with core competency training and skill development to less experienced Occupational Therapy practitioners, allied health assistants, support staff and students within scope of practice guidelines to ensure the development and maintenance of professional clinical standards.
