Be part of a passionate team delivering world-class healthcare in one of Australia’s most stunning and diverse regions. In your new role you will work in Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services currently consist of professional, operational, administrative and trade staff. The Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry and painting. These responsibilities are exercised through the management of in-house labour and the management and supervision of day labour and/or contractors where necessary to supplement in-house labour.

About us: 

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.

About you:

In your new role you will;

  • Undertake electrical work and carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance to comply with all applicable standards including Workplace Health and Safety, Australian Standards, Electricity Act, Regulations and Code of Practice.
  • Instruct Trade Assistants and Apprentices towards the achievement of necessary standards and work practices relevant to the Electrical trade. Ensure that safe work practices and safety procedures are always adopted, and that protective clothing and equipment provided is worn and used as recommended.
  • Liaise with all CHHHS staff, other government agencies and private contractors to ensure work is undertaken with minimal disruption to clients and staff.
