An exciting permanent opportunity exists for you to the join Queensland Health as a Senior Policy Officer within the Legislative Projects Unit. Our unit’s mission is to lead a legislative reform and enhancement program for the statutory frameworks and regulatory instruments that apply to the mental health, alcohol and other drugs system to optimise operation and meet changing clinical and system priorities. You will work as part of a team that maintains statutory interagency agreements that apply to Queensland Health mental health, alcohol, and other drugs services and explore opportunities for regulatory reforms across the system.

What you'll do
You will work as part of a team that maintains statutory interagency agreements that apply to Queensland Health mental health, alcohol, and other drugs services and explore opportunities for regulatory reforms across the system. The Senior Policy Officer, Legislative Projects Unit, undertakes research, and supports the analysis, development, and implementation of policy regarding statewide legislative and associated reforms across the mental health, alcohol and other drugs system.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Ability to research policy issues of a complex nature and the capacity to provide accurate and timely advice to management in relation to these issues.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the interpretation and requirements of relevant legislation and policy (e.g. the Mental Health Act 2016, Forensic Disability Act 2011 and the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000) and its complex interrelationship with government, non government and private sectors.
