Join our dedicated Quality Safety and Risk Business Unit, where your expertise as an Administration Officer or Clinical Nurse will help elevate patient care and drive excellence in safety standards.
The primary objective of this position is to advocate for and provide guidance to the Central Highlands Unit within the Health Service. This involves promoting contemporary practices in quality, safety, and risk management to support the unit’s strategic and operational goals, align with CQHHS's quality, safety, and risk priorities, and comply with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) EQuIP National Standards.
Emerald is a rural town located in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia., a short 270kms from Rockhampton City, the town boasts year-round events such as the Gemfields Festival, Gala in the Garden and Emerald 100 Race Day.

About us:
Emerald Hospital is located 300kms west of the Queensland coastline. The population of the surrounding community is approximately 28,000 with 15,000 at Emerald. Emerald Hospital is a 32-bed facility, has two operating theatres and approximately 160 staff delivering services across Emergency, Acute Care, Perioperative Services, Maternity, Infusion Services, Hospital in the Home (HITH), Child Heath, Mental Health, Palliative Care, Community and Primary Care. There are three smaller multi-purpose health services (MPHS), located at Blackwater and Springsure and Woorabinda along with two Primary Care centres at Gemfields and Capella.
About the role:
The primary purpose of the position is to advocate for and provide advice to the Central Highlands Unit across Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS) on contemporary quality, safety, and risk management practices to meet the business unit's strategic and operational objectives, CQHHS Quality, Safety and Risk strategic priorities and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) EQuIPNational Standards.
About you:
- Mandatory qualification/s (Administration Officer): Nil
- Mandatory qualification/s (Clinical Nurse): Current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a high-quality service with the primary focus on achievement of organisational goals for the good of others.
- Leadership skills which prioritise quality, safety and risk and supports continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates a successful track record in maintaining effective relationships with teams and other key stakeholders.

Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $148,323 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate (Clinical Nurse) between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
- An hourly rate (Administration Officer) between $61.20 - $65.56 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
