Infrastructure Services Division is seeking a suitably skilled and experienced professional to undertake a senior executive role leading the annual infrastructure budget of over $2 billion. About Us:

The Department's Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) plays a key role in providing teaching and learning environments in which our children, students and teachers can thrive and achieve success.

About the Role

The Senior Director will:

  • Monitor financial performance of the division and provide expert financial advice to the division's Executive Management Team
  • Lead development and governance of the annual infrastructure budget of over $2 billion, including a capital works portfolio with thousands of in-flight projects and a substantial maintenance program
  • Oversee development and ongoing governance of finance & accounting policies and procedures for the division, such as budget management, project accounting, asset accounting, operational financial management, etc.
  • Provide people leadership to the Infrastructure Investment & Finance team and work collaboratively with other related business functions across the division
  • Be the division's primary point of contact with departmental Corporate Finance, Queensland Treasury and Queensland Audit Office on budget, finance, accounting and related matters, including building trusted relationships with these and other key stakeholders
  • Manage grants and other funding programs that allocate State Government and Australian Government funding to school infrastructure projects
  • Address a wide range of executive reporting and Cabinet/Ministerial correspondence

Depending on start date of the successful candidate, there will be the opportunity for a handover from the current incumbent of the role to support with on-boarding.

About You:

This Senior Director will suit a financial management professional with experience leading the development and governance of infrastructure capital works budgets, along with knowledge of accounting processes related to infrastructure assets such as project accounting (eg. cashflows and accruals) and asset accounting (eg. asset capitalisation). Previous experience in operational financial management and/or portfolio management of infrastructure projects would also be advantageous.

You will also bring your people leadership, business improvement and change management capabilities to our ‘OneISD' People Strategy and ‘Equity and Excellence in Action: Infrastructure for Learning' plan.

We are looking for someone who:

It would be desirable for the successful applicant to have:

  • A tertiary qualification in finance, accountancy, commerce or economics
  • current membership with an accredited professional body, such as CPA Australia (Certified Practicing Accountants) or ICAA (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia).
  • Depending on start date of the successful candidate, to support with on-boarding there will be the opportunity for a handover from the current incumbent of the role.
