An exciting opportunity exists to join the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) team, Schools and Student Support Division, as Principal Education Officer (EOSD). This role supports the strategic direction of the CTL team through providing high level advice, analysis and oversight of CTL priorities and initiatives aligned to the department's Equity and Excellence (E&E) strategy. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the CTL Region and School Support portfolio, co-ordinating leadership capability development across the business unit and leading special projects aligned to strategic goals.

The successful candidate will be employed at the classification listed on the attached role description under EOSD provisions.

About the Role

The role will have responsibility for:

  • Leading CTL Region and School Support portfolio, including analysis and distribution of data aligning to the Equity & Excellence (E&E) phases of learning priority measures (particularly Ready for the Future);
  • Analysing school and region review evidence for CTL ensuring alignment of system-wide work with evidence;
  • Providing a school leadership lens and strategic oversight into executive advice and responses, including advice on contentious issues;
  • Coordinating CTL leadership development at all levels including aspirants;
  • Coordinating CTL team meetings and agendas aligned to key CTL priority work;
  • Coordinating CTL capability offerings in collaboration with EFI and regions;
  • Liaising with other senior executives and providing advice/support on contentious or complex issues; and
  • Having oversight of a CTL approach to data-informed practice.

The role will also have responsibilities for special projects:

  • Support E&E CTL projects as required;
  • Lead Duke of Edinburgh team, governance, associated approvals and key stakeholder engagement activities;
  • Support RSIP initiative in collaboration with State RSIP Manager and regional senior schooling leaders to support;
  • Support capability and coordination for CTL leaders to join school review team;
  • Secretariate for K-12 advisory group.

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments. 
  • Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 7.4 of the Department of Education State School Teachers Certified Agreement 2019. 
  • When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
